My name is Jonathan McVay I am 23 years old, and I'm a connection the other side.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD AN INTEREST IN THE PARANORMAL?

Id have to say probably since I was a kid, my mom had experiences herself and she had told me about them which then got me interested in it. Then later on I started having my own experiences.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST EXPERIENCE?

My first experience was when I was around 12 or 13 years old. We had just moved into our new house, I slept in the basement and everyone else slept upstairs. We had this cat that had a bell on his collar. One night I woke up and went to go get something to drink, I felt something brush against my leg and I heard the bell, but I didn’t see my cat. I went into living room upstairs and the cat was sleeping on the couch.

DID YOU HAVE ANY OTHER EXPERIENCES BEFORE YOU JOINED JPR?

One night me and some other friends were messing around with an Ouija board and things just went crazy. We were hearing voices, I had been attacked, Jonah was there for that and he helped me through it. I was living with a friend at his grandmas house and at the time his grandma was in Texas for about 6 months. Him and I kept hearing footsteps throughout the house, we heard a little girl laughing and talking in the attic, the activity only progressed over time. But as soon as his grandma came back everything stopped.

WHY DO YOU CLAIM YOURSELF TO BE A MEDIUM?

I don’t claim to be, I know I am. Its not like I woke up one day and chose to be this, its just something when you have it, you know it. I know there will be non-believers to people like me but there are people who are non-believers to the paranormal. I just know in my heart that I am, Im not saying that I can hear them, Im not saying that I can talk to them or see them. What spirits can do is reflect their emotions through me, their feelings show through me. Which at times can be scary but its how they communicate with and through me and it all shows in the evidence. I don’t walk into a corner of a house and tell a life story like they do on TV, I cant tell you your future or that you'll have fortune and fame. I can reflect and feel their emotions. My final thought on this is believe what you will, but I can only promise that Im not fake but that’s one thing I am not out to prove, I know what I am and Jonah knows too and it helps during investigations.

WHAT WAS YOUR MOST FAVORITE EXPERIENCE SO FAR?

Id have to say my most favorite experience was at Villisca when we caught an EVP that said “They’re coming to get you”. The energy in the room was overwhelming and Jonah had said he heard a voice whisper in his ear and sure enough it was captured on the digital recorder in his hand.

WHAT WAS YOUR MOST SCARIEST EXPERIENCE?

The scariest experience I’ve ever had was when I was in the attic of The Villisca Ax Murder House by myself, its pitch black and freezing cold. Out of no where I felt this rush of energy push right through me, like imagine the feeling of seeing the hulk rush towards you, that’s what it was like. It definitely caught me off guard and freaked me out pretty good.

WHAT ARE YOUR PERSONAL GOALS AS AN INVESTIGATOR?

My goal as an investigator is to know more, I want to learn as much as possible. I want to learn what triggers them, I want to better understand their behaviors. I want to be able to take my knowledge and use it in life. I want to prove that they are real, and that all its takes is to open your mind to other possibilites. The biggest thing for me is to become a well known, well credited, and respected investigator and medium in the paranormal community.

WHERE DO YOU WANT TO INVESTIGATE THE MOST?

I would love to just be able to investigate Vlad The Impaler’s (aka Dracula) Castle. It’s a pretty far out there dream but it can be accomplished.

IF THERE WAS SOMETHING YOU HATED ABOUT INVESTIGATIONS, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

The only thing I would say that I hate about investigations are the long nights and depending on the locations sometimes just too much evil energy. But its all worth it in the end.

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY YOU LOVE ABOUT PARANORMAL INVESTIGATIONS?

I love the energy, I mean personally for me I feel like as a medium I can feel energy in a stronger way than most. I can walk into a house and just be like whoa tonights going to be an eventful night. I just love it, I love being in the moment.

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST FEAR DURING AN INVESTIGATION?

My biggest fear is being fully possessed. There is nothing that scares me more than that. Its knowing I have a strong connection with spirits and energy that I feel I am more vulnerable and susceptible to evil entities.
