My name is Jonah Jones. I am 22 years old and I live and breathe the paranormal.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD AN INTEREST IN THE PARANORMAL?

I’ve had in interest in the paranormal since I was a kid. I remember I used to watch Ghost Hunters and I’d be curled up in a blanket on the couch absolutely just scared. I always looked forward to Halloween time when all the “Haunted locations” TV shows would come on TV and I’d watch them..knowing I’d get scared haha. My dad used to ask me “Why do you watch them when you know they scare you”.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST EXPERIENCE?

My first experience was as at a very young age. I was staying at my mothers old house in the country just outside of Newton, Iowa. This house was located directly across the street from a cemetery. My bed was just at the top of the stairs next to the railing. I clearly remember watching between the railing posts, a man walk up the stairs, stop and he turned to looked at me then completely vanished.

DID YOU HAVE ANY OTHER EXPERIENCES BEFORE YOU STARTED JPR?

I’ve had many experiences before starting JPR. The one that really opened my eyes to it all was one day I was at my cousins house where I was living at the time and there were about 5 or 6 of us in the living room watching tv, I had gotten up to go to the bathroom and I was smacked in the face by an Xbox controller that had been sitting on top of the TV, mind you Im a good 3 feet away from the TV, and everyone was just kind of in shock including myself. Other than that as a teen I’ve gone out to abandoned houses in the country and been scared out, had things thrown, voices heard, doors slamming/opening, seen shadows.

SO HOW DID JPR START?

JPR started when one night Matt and I had been watching Ghost Adventures on TV, we had gotten the bright idea to try to catch some EVPs on our phones, needless to say we succeeded and it was the most overwhelming feeling. It was just like wow.. this sh*t is real. So I started purchasing equipment and doing hours upon hours of research on the paranormal and ghost hunting. I still do research to this day for hours and hours. We originally started the group as J&W Paranormal Research (Jones & Wallace). Later on some personal things had happened and the name was changed to Jones. Eventually things were resolved and just cause it’s a hassle, we kept the name as Jones Paranormal Research, personally I think Matt and I will always see it as J&W Paranormal Research. It will always be a “him and I” type thing. Its just a label.

WHAT WAS YOUR MOST FAVORITE EXPERIENCE SO FAR?

My favorite experience would have to be when Matt and I were doing an investigation for my sister in Newton, Iowa before her and her family moved into their new house at the time. We were in the basement and had heard footsteps coming from upstairs, we stopped and listened then asked if it could make a noise and it knocked but we had kind of doubted it so we asked again and intelligently it responded, no one was there but Matt and I. That was the first time we had both experienced an intelligent spirit like that and it was just absolutely incredible.

WHAT WAS YOUR MOST SCARIEST EXPERIENCE?

The scariest experience I’ve ever had hands down has to be at a private home investigation in Monroe, Iowa. We were all sitting in the dining room when I heard something in the kitchen so I got up to check it out. When I walked into the kitchen I had the PSB-7 spirit box and speaker in my hand, and out of no where this force, an energy just smacked the spirit box and speaker out of my hands and shoved me so hard, 4 others in the kitchen witnessed this. As the spirit box flew out of my hand and as I was falling/trying to run away, this loud violent scream came through the spirit box before it hit the ground. Everyone was terrified after that.

WHAT ARE YOUR PERSONAL GOALS AS AN INVESTIGATOR?

My personal goal as an investigator is to experience as much as I can, investigate as many locations as I can and learn as much about the afterlife, and the paranormal as I can before its my time to be the investigated. This is my passion, its what I do and its what I am good at. I thrive for this life style. As I mentioned earlier I am constantly researching topics on the paranormal and learning about different locations etc.

WHERE DO YOU WANT TO INVESTIGATE THE MOST?

Hands down I want to investigate Edinburgh, Scotland. I want to investigate the Edinburgh Vaults and Greyfriars Kirkyard. I’d also love to investigate Montpelier Hill (Hell Fire Club) in Ireland.

IF THERE WAS SOMETHING YOU HATED ABOUT INVESTIGATIONS, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

If there was anything to hate about investigations it’d probably be that there is never enough equipment, never enough money and never enough time. Im the type of guy that wants the best of the best to provide the best. I want to be able to spend days at a location, I want to be able to go to any location around the world that I choose whenever I choose. But unfortunately that cant happen, not yet at least.

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY YOU LOVE ABOUT PARANORMAL INVESTIGATIONS?

I love everything about investigations, its where I’m able to zone the world out and focus on the situation at hand. Focus on my tactics, my plans for the night. Focus on myself. I just love being in the moment, knowing I'm about to do what I love and what I am passionate about. I am myself when I am in the darkness of a location. Its just me, my team and them.

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST FEAR DURING AN INVESTIGATION?

My biggest fear is coming face to face with a spirit. I’ve seen apparitions, I’ve seen shadows, but I’ve never came face to face with one besides when I was very small child at my mothers house. But being that young I didn’t understand anything so quite frankly nothing made enough sense to me to have fear about it. Now I understand things and have acquired fear about things. I’m afraid to be alone, I’m definitely the Aaron Goodwin of JPR.
