THE MERSHON HOME

02/15/2014

NEWTON, IOWA

This was our very first investigation

HISTORY

James Roe Mershon arrived in Newton in 1854 and has forever been known as one the "founding fathers" of Newton, Iowa. The house was built in 1867. The family at the time consisted of James R., Margaret Manfull (wife), Emma Mershon (daughter), and James Edward (son).

On August 20th, 1868 his wife Margaret Manfull died while giving birth to their third child (whose name is unknown), who had also died during labor. On July 19th, 1901 James R. passed away in the home. Funerals for all three took place within the home. For thirty plus years they lived in the house, experiencing many joys but also many sorrows.

James had been married four times and has had four children (including the infant that died). Most of the family is buried in the Newton Cemetery (which I believe to be Union Cemetery but that information is not confirmed).

Private Home Investigations

We've done 7 private in home investigations and were successfully able to help each family deal with the spirits in their homes and determine what to do next. We were able to provide them with answers to all their questions and were able to provide them with closure and peace. Some say they haven't had any problems since.
